Quick Start Guide
Please install the device driver and control software prior to connecting the RS10k spectrometer to your computer. The RS10k requires the driver version 20230412 or later to function properly. Any previous version must be uninstalled before installing the new driver. You can find the latest version of RedSolve, the device driver, and the spectrometer’s calibration file on the included USB drive.
Prior to installing the software for your RS10k spectrometer please ensure that any previous Redback Systems hardware drivers are uninstalled from your computer. Please uninstall the QHYCameras Driver first, then uninstall the QHYCCD_Win_AllInOne package.
Run the QHYCCD_Win_AllInOne driver installer and select Drivers only. While scrolling through the list, ensure that FireCapture is not selected.
Install RedSolve. You can download the latest version from the Downloads page.
Connect the RS10k spectrometer to your computer via the included cable.
Create a copy of the calibration file and store it in a location of your preference on your computer's hard drive. Run Redsolve, and open the Settings dialog from the Options menu. Load the calibration file from your hard drive and confirm with OK.
Click the Acquire button to get a single spectrum at the specified exposure time, or click Live View to see a continuously refreshing view. Note, please use the included USB 3.0 cable to access full-speed (10 Hz) data acquisition.
To save your data, click on the Save button and select the desired file directory. The complete data array will be saved in *.csv file format. Relevant metadata (e.g. exposure time, acquisition date, etc.) will be saved in the file header. A presentation-ready image showing a screenshot of the data, including regions of interest (ROIs) is also saved.
When recording broad-band sources, you'll see a bumpy periodic modulation of the signal across the spectrum. This is not a defect and arises from the intrinsic physics of the optical design. There are tools to correct this in the display. For more information please read the user manual.
