RS15k Spectrometer
The Redback Systems RS15k is a high-resolution, single-mode fibre-coupled echelle spectrometer designed for precision spectroscopy in the near-infrared (NIR). It captures broadband spectra from 950 to 1650 nm in a single exposure with a resolving power of approximately R~20,000. The spectrometer is equipped with a cooled, short-wave infrared (SWIR) InGaAs detector that enables high sensitivity data acquisition across the NIR wavelength range. The RS15k is optimised for applications including quantum photonics, laser and frequency-comb diagnostics, and telecommunications component characterisation in the NIR.
SWIR detector technology
The RS15k is equipped with a 1.3-megapixel SWIR 2D array detector, capable of detecting light from the visible to the near-infrared, with a peak quantum efficiency of 90%.
SWIR detectors are used to detect electromagnetic radiation in the range of 900-2500 nm. These detectors are based on a variety of technologies, including InGaAs (indium gallium arsenide), HgCdTe (mercury cadmium telluride), and PbS (lead sulfide) among others. InGaAs is one of the most popular technologies used for SWIR detectors due to its high sensitivity and low noise characteristics.
